The forest stand is the point where the forest management planning meets the silvicultural planning. On the basis of digital orthophotoimages and photo interpretation key we drew up a stand map covering the sections 11H07, 11H08 in 11H09 of the cadastral community Spodnje Koseze, which was later compared to the silvicultural plan made by Slovenia Forest Service. The comparison revealed some differences between the stand map drawn up on the orthophoto basis and the map of tending units. Our suggestion is that the stand map is drawn up as a part of the forestmanagement plan and then consulted as the grounds for the the silvicultural planning. The elaboration of the map requires the participation of a forester from the local forestry unit. A precisely drawn-up forest stand map tested on the site speeds up the determination of tending and management units and contributes to its accuracy. It facilitates the map elaboration for the next forest management plan renewal and lowers the price of the procedure.
