As part of my thesis, I determined several mechanical properties of beech wood. These include compressive strength parallel and perpendicular to the grain, as well as their respective elastic moduli. The tests were conducted in accordance with the standard SIST EN 408:2010 + A1:2012. For the tests parallel to the grain, I used 18 specimens, and for those perpendicular to the grain, I used 24. In the introduction, I described the characteristics of wood and its significance in our region. I then proceeded to outline the testing procedures and present the results. Finally, I examined the interdependence between the measured mechanical properties. I discovered that the compressive strength and stiffness parallel to the grain are significantly greater than the compressive strength and stiffness perpendicular to the grain, and that there is no statistically significant relationship between these quantities.
