The aim of the graduation thesis is to make an inventory of trees and shrubs on public areas in Koper, to establish their present condition, and to draw upa register and a cadastre. Each tree and shrub in the inventory is equipped with a registration number and with data on the genus, species, diameter, height, age, level of damages, and measures of remedy, if necessary. The inventory contains 2894 trees and 1937 shrubs, classified into 66 families and80 different species. Most common genii of trees in the inventory are pine (Pinus) (21.25 %), oak (Quercus) (18.28 %) and cedar (Cedrus) (12.55 %), and oleander (Nerium) (21.76 %), fire-thorn (Pyracantha) (14.20 %) and viburnum (Viburnum) (12.60 %) in shrubs. Predominant are very thin and thin trees (0-19cm) (50 %), and most are undamaged (85.14%). Measures were proposed for 18.52 % of trees and 4.90 % of shrubs, in the total amount of EUR 231,601. Thesurvey was answered by 103 respondents, expressing the opinion that the trees are too few but that they are well cared for. Respondents would also like to have more green spaces for walks, and more natural forested areas.
