Abstract

Abstract:
The thesis is based especially on ecological aspect of wood biomass removal from the forests. Thus, it compares the length-tree harvest method with the whole-tree harvest method, on the basis of the quantity of nutrients present in different tree compartments. The basic assumption is that the nutrients' removal in the length-tree harvesting method is the highest admissible from the perspective of sustainable slash management of forests. Therefore, it is necessary to decrease the slash amount in the whole-tree harvesting method. This was established separately for the conifers and deciduous trees and according to age groups. The model is completed on the basis of literature examination The obtained results confirm the hypothesis that the whole-tree harvesting method removes a much larger part of nutrients compared to the length-tree harvesting method. The established percentage of corrected slash should amount to 60 % with deciduous trees and 50 % with coniferous tress, in comparison to the slash using the lenght-tree harvesting method. We also determined the amount of slash in winter harvest of deciduous trees with the whole-tree harvesting method. The technological and economic aspects of the discussed topic have also been considered.
