Abstract

Abstract:
On the basis of data from permanent sample plots (n=94660) of Slovenia forest service, we analyzed amount of dead wood (DW) in regard to selected site, stand and socio-economics variableness. In Slovenia, we found out, are 26 dead trees (d1,3 > 10 cm) on hectare area, representing 10 m3/hectare of DW, or3.6 % of growing stock forest stands. There are greater amounts of DW in private forests (11 m3/ha) than in state-owned (10 m3/ha), noticeable greater are also amounts in forests with longer skidding distance in comparison with amount of DW in forests with shorter skidding distance. Inside DW we haven't noticed significant difference in amount between logs and snags, but significantly higher is share of deciduous trees (56 %) compared to conifers (44 %). With general linear model, analyze of variance, volume of DW as dependent variable and independent variables (regional unit, site type, growth phase, inclination, growth stock, portion of deciduous trees, medium basal area tree, skidding distance) we found out, that on area of Slovenia, wecan explain only 4.4 % of variability in volume of DW.
