Abstract
V tem diplomskem delu z naslovom Onesnaževanje okolja s cestnim prometom z vidika motorjev z notranjim izgorevanjem so obravnavani vsi škodljivi vplivi, ki jih motorji z notranjim izgorevanjem povzročajo. Med delovanjem takih motorjev namreč v ozračje uhajajo številni škodljivi plini in druga onesnaževala. V uvodu sta predstavljena namen in cilj diplomskega dela. Nato so razvrščena vsa cestna vozila. V nadaljevanju so opisane delovne snovi, nujno potrebne za delovanje batnih motorjev. Poleg tega so podrobno predstavljeni različni sistemi, s katerimi onesnaževanje omejujemo, poglobljeno delovanje takih sistemov, njihove napake in testiranje v praksi. Ti sistemi so postali temelj razvoja novih motorjev. To predstavlja največji izziv proizvajalcev vozil. V velikem porastu so alternativni pogoni, zlasti električni.

Title:ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION BY ROAD TRANSPORT FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
Abstract:
In this thesis titled Environmental Pollution by road transport from the point of view of internal combustion engines all harmful impacts caused by internal combustion engines are addressed. During the operation of internal combustion engines, numerous harmful gases and other pollutants are released into the atmosphere. The introduction outlines the purpose and objective of the study. Subsequently, all types of road vehicles are classified. The following sections describe the working substances necessary for the operation of reciprocating engines. The emission of harmful substances from exhaust pipes, their impact on human health, and the diseases they cause are discussed. Additionally, various systems for limiting pollution are elaborated, including their operation, errors, and practical testing, as they have become the foundation for the development of new engines. Various alternative propulsion systems aimed at reducing pollution are described in the thesis. As part of the research, a web-based questionnaire was created to gather information on the transportation modes and propulsion systems used by specific groups of people, as well as the ones they would use if various factors did not constrain them. Besides the pursuit of better power utilization, the guiding principle in the development of new engines is to minimize pollution. This presents the greatest challenge for vehicle manufacturers. Not only are such engine components complex to manufacture, but they must also function as a cohesive system to fulfill their primary functions. Therefore, regular and proper maintenance of such vehicles is crucial. Alternative propulsion systems, especially electric ones, are experiencing significant growth. It is anticipated that electricity will eventually completely replace conventional reciprocating engines, albeit this transition is happening slowly but steadily. Governmental regulations restricting internal combustion engines are pushing this transition the most. However, it is important to note that electric vehicles also indirectly and directly pollute our environment. It is essential to realize that each individual can influence this type of pollution. The questionnaire revealed that the majority of respondents still do not trust or utilize alternative propulsion systems. It is important to acknowledge that every individual can contribute significantly to reducing pollution from road traffic.
