In this thesis I am going to present a German origin of Spengler's philosophy. In the background of antagonism between universalism of enlightenment and his antipode, presented through different movements, all concentraded around apology of freedom, there will be introduced conflict among the individual and common. Postmodern is presented as a continuation of Spengler's rejection of enlightenment positions. Concerning his pessimism and his critique of democracy, I will demonstrate postmodern dissapointment over modern promises resulting in dystopias.
