Abstract
Literaturo smo zbirali od novembra 2023 do januarja 2024 s pomočjo ključnih besed preko oddaljenega dostopa v naslednjih bibliografskih bazah: CINAHL Ultimate, Medline in iskalniku Google Učenjak.

Title:Quality of life of pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Hyperemesis gravidarum is a rare disease during pregnancy characterized by severe nausea and/or vomiting, inability to eat and/or drink normally and severely limited ability to perform everyday activities. Its causes remain unclear. Treatment requires a combination of medical interventions, complementary therapies, lifestyle changes, dietary changes, and pregnant women education. The role of the nurse is of great importance as, in addition to nursing interventions, she provides the psychological support and assistance that pregnant women need. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma work is to explore, through a literature review, how the quality of life of pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum is changed and what is the role of nursing care in their management. Methods: The descriptive method of work was used, based on a review of the professional and scientific literature in the English language. Literature was collected from November 2023 to January 2024 using keywords via remote access in the following bibliographic databases: the CINAHL Ultimate, Medline and Google Scholar. Results: The quality of life of pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum is lower than that of healthy pregnant women, decreasing with increasing severity and stage of the disease. Nausea and vomiting affect women’s daily life, social relationships, and their willingness to become pregnant again. The disease increases the likelihood of abortion and suicidal thoughts. The health status of pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum improves with appropriate nursing care and implementation of guidelines. Ginger and acupressure at the P6 point are effective alternative methods to relieve nausea and vomiting. Educational programmes on hyperemesis gravidarum for nurses improve their theoretical and practical knowledge, which also results in a positive impact on the well-being and outcomes of pregnant women. Discussion and conclusion: Hyperemesis gravidarum affects not only physical activities but also family care, work, social relationships, and psychological well-being, thus impairing the quality of life of pregnant women. Understanding the impairment of quality of life of pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum allows us to understand the magnitude and complexity of the disease, thus better identifying the care problems and needs of pregnant women. This allows us to plan appropriate, high-quality, and comprehensive health care.
