Performing business philanthropy in modern business environments has become a way for the businesses to improve their business performance and to have a positive influence on society, environment and different stakeholders. The aim of the diploma thesis was to review the practical implementation of business philanthropy practice. The objectives of the thesis were to research and describe the field of social responsibility and corporate social responsibility with a particular attention to seven Slovenian business that have received the questions through electronic mail.
Four research questions were formed and their aim was to discover how the business philanthropy is understood in the company, which fields of corporate social responsibility are important in the company for the philanthropy, how are philanthropic activities connected with the strategy and business activities and which are the detected challenges in philanthropic activities.
With the help of the answers of the business we displayed that the companies understand business philanthropy in the connection with the business environment, society and employees, with competitive advantage, sustainability and digitalization. They most often pay attention to society and environment, holistic approach which includes sports, cultural, educational and humanitarian activities, social inequality, environment preservation and digital responsibility. The charitable activities are connected with the business strategy and business activities. However, the companies detect certain challenges of the philanthropic such as financial and logistical challenges. The research displays practical examples of corporate philanthropy which is why it is useful for the field. The challenges of the research lay in the fact that companies were not willing to be interviewed which leads to a small sample of companies.
