Abstract

Title:Bow in Physics Lessons
Abstract:
Pupils and students find it difficult to imagine many physical concepts, especially if they are presented in an abstract and theoretical way. In the work, a research paper is presented, with which we want to bring students to an understanding of the concept of work and the transfer of energy and efficiency through archery (I personally conducted an experiment with a bow). Theoretically and practically, we focus mainly on the bow tensioning process itself, in which the archer performs work on the bow and thus increases its elastic energy, which is converted into the arrow's kinetic energy during the shot. Through measurements, we determine the work involved and the kinetic energy of the arrow just after it leaves the bow. The transfer of energy from elastic energy to kinetic energy is of course not 100%, which is also evident in the analysis of our measurements. At the same time, we also add measurements of arrow ranges, which we connect with the initial velocity of the arrow. The measured speeds of the arrows are compared with the calculated speeds obtained assuming that the shot is an example of a horizontal throw. At the end, we add some guidelines for implementation and give ideas for further research work.
