This dissertation treats the maintenance of forest roads in the Logatec Commune. The purpose of this dissertation was to establish the estimation of the maintenance of the forest roads and calculate the amount of means necessary for the maintenance of the forest roads. This was done on the basis of a sample inventory of damages and the necessary maintenance works as well as the analysis of the maintenance during the last five years. The forests belonging to the state (state forests) and those owned by private individuals (private forests) were dealt with separately. The actual condition of forest roads in the Logatec Commune was defined by sample filming of hectometer sections and with it we established that the majority of the damages was in the upper structure of the forest roads. In state forests, there were mostly shock pits, whereas there are mainly a broached protective layer and erosive channels in private forests. All of these are the consequences of a damaged system of drainage. On the basis of the filming, we established that 16.288,79 EUR per year is needed to maintain forest roadsin state forests and 69.918,58 EUR in the private forests. However, at present 10.000 EUR is assigned yearly for the maintenance of the state forests and 35.000 EUR for the private ones. Using carefully planned maintenance we will try to achieve a better state of forest roads. It will take three years to do so in state forests and five years in private ones, because it is necessary to gradually finish building the system of drainage.
