Abstract
Zaradi podnebnih sprememb in nestabilnosti na svetovnih trgih hrana postaja strateška dobrina držav. Stanje prehranske varnosti dosegamo takrat, ko imamo stalno dosegljive zadostne količine kakovostne hrane.

Title:Ensuring food security through food self-sufficiency: good practices in Goriška region
Abstract:
Due to climate change and instability in global food markets, food is becoming a strategic commodity for countries. Food security is achieved when there are consistently sufficient quantities of high-quality food available. Ensuring food security has become one of the primary objectives of countries, which also recognize that the most effective way to achieve it is by increasing food self-sufficiency. Excessive dependence on import can disrupt or hinder food supply chains in the event of any unforeseen global events. Slovenia also acknowledges the importance of increasing local production and consequently the level of self-sufficiency, as it is a net importer of food. However, due to climate change, it is also important to consider how food is produced. Today, there is a focus on the importance of sustainably produced food, which has less negative impact on the environment. Slovenian agricultural policy is aligned with the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which sets standards for production on one hand and allocates a significant portion of funds from the budget in the form of subsidies to agriculture for the purpose of protecting European farms and rural development on the other. The master's thesis addresses best practices in promoting the production and purchase of locally produced food at the national level and within the Goriška region, for which a case study was conducted. In the region, numerous projects have been launched to bring local producers closer to consumers in more modern ways. An analysis of statistical data presents the current situation regarding the level of self-sufficiency in Slovenia and the state of agricultural land.
