Abstract

Title:Analysis of stress experienced by employees at the Center for Social Work Osrednja Slovenija – Vzhod
Abstract:
The stress is inevitable both at home and in the workplace nowadays. Employees in the field of social care are particularly exposed to experiencing work–related stress due to the nature of their work. With an appropriate response and coping mechanism, employees can prevent the negative consequences of stress on their mental and physical health. The purpose of this thesis was to determine how employees in the selected organization experience stress and how they cope with it. It aimed to highlight the key stress factors in the workplace and present options for reducing the stress levels of employees. In the theoretical part of the thesis, a descriptive method and compilation method based on the study of domestic and foreign literature were used. In the empirical part of the thesis, a survey was conducted among employees at the Center for Social Work Osrednja Slovenija – Vzhod, using the quantitative method of questionnaire survey. The results of the survey were then analyzed, interpreted, and graphically presented using statistical methods. The research revealed that the most common stress factors for employees in the workplace are demanding clients, tight deadlines, and the content or nature of the work. Respondents suggested additional employment, better work organization, clear instructions, and higher wages as options to reduce stress levels. The leadership would relieve existing employees, who are bound by legally defined deadlines in their work, by hiring additional staff. While employees are familiar with and implement various measures to prevent stress, the nature of their work and demanding clients might necessitate workshops on stress management. These workshops would provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully maintain overall well–being.
