Decentralised Implementation of OAuth2 using Blockchain and Decentralized Identities

Digital data has become one of the most important assets in the world. Existing identity providers follow a federative approach to processing user data. The decentralized identity standard aims to provide users with com- plete control over their data without the need for a third party. Various solutions are proposed, such as data storage in blockchain. Verifiable cre- dentials offer a way to digitally represent and share real information about a subject in the digital world. The Kilt protocol is a blockchain technology that realizes decentralized identities and verifiable credentials. In this thesis, we have analyzed the history and current state of online identities and the most well-known providers, described the standards of decentralized identities and verifiable credentials in detail, and the Kilt pro- tocol. We have implemented a solution in line with the ten principles of self-sovereign identity, based on the Kilt protocol implementation, and cre- ated an application analogous to OAuth 2.0.

• Title: Decentralizirana implementacija OAuth2 z uporabo bločnih verig in decentraliziranih identitet

Abstract

Digitalni podatki so postali eno izmed najpomembnejˇsih sredstev na svetu. Obstojeˇci ponudniki identitete sledijo federativnemu pristopu k obdelavi upo- rabniˇskih podatkov. Standard decentralizirane identitete si prizadeva upo- rabnikom zagotoviti popoln nadzor nad njihovimi podatki brez potrebe po tretji strani. Predlagane so razliˇcne reˇsitve, kot na primer shranjevanje po- datkov v veriˇznih blokih. Preverljive poverilnice nudijo naˇcin za digitalno predstavitev in deljenje resniˇcnih informacij o subjektu v digitalnem svetu. Protokol Kilt je tehnologija veriˇznih blokov, ki uresniˇcuje decentralizirane identitete in preverljive poverilnice. V tem delu smo analizirali zgodovino in trenutno stanje spletnih identitet ter najbolj znanih ponudnikov, podrobno smo opisali standarde decentralizi- ranih identitet in preverljivih poverilnic, ter protokol Kilt. Izvedli smo reˇsitev v skladu z desetimi naˇceli samoupravne identitete, temeljeˇco na implemen- taciji protokola Kilt, in ustvarili aplikacijo analogno OAuth 2.0.
