Abstract
This study focuses on the development of processing and characterization of polyoxymethylene (POM) with carbon black (CB) particles. The introduction of CB as a filler serves to enhance POM's low friction and increased wear resistance, as well as increased stiffness, enabling the material to endure more substantial usage. Among the various industries that stand to gain from this improved material, the automotive sector could benefit significantly by incorporating POM/CB gears into car transmissions. In the present study, a low-pressure injection molding was used to produce high quality components. Various characterization methods were employed to determine the properties of composites. Firstly, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to determine the melting and crystallization temperatures of the purchased raw material pellets (POM/CB composite), which were later used to optimize the injection molding parameters. The main focus was on observing the material behavior during and after processing. After manufacturing, various tests such as amplitude and frequency sweeps were made to determine the rheological properties, while DMA tests were used to determine the mechanical properties. Finally, DSC was repeated to compare the material properties before and after the components were manufactured. The knowledge gained in this study enables the investigation of the material behavior during processing and understanding of the process of highly commercial low-pressure injection molding of thermoplastics specially designed for intricate shapes. In addition, the use of various tests enables future optimization of the processing and operating parameters of the material. Several disciplines such as mechanics and rheology influence each other in the tests, so a more in-depth study of their interactions is recommended.

Title:Raziskava o predelavi in karakterizaciji ogljiko-polioksimetilenskih kompozitov
