The thesis focuses on the development of the container terminal of the Port of Koper and compares it with the most technically advanced ports around the world. It provides an overview of containerisation and its development, including a list of container types used at container terminals. Additionally, it presents modern terminal equipment, with a specific emphasis on automated terminals. As an example of good practice in the automation, I introduced the Yangshan container terminal in the Port of Shanghai – the busiest port in the world, followed by a presentation of the Port of Koper and its container terminal, along with a detailed presentation of its existing equipment. I then compared the container terminal at the Port of Koper with the most advanced terminals worldwide, considering their levels of automation, handling equipment, and storage facilities. Based on these findings, recommendations for further development are provided in the final part.
