Engineering drawings are still predominantly used in the industry to transfer and display design requirements. Nevertheless, the industry is increasingly adopting Model Based Definition (MBD) technology, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the company’s development cycle. As part of the assignment, we investigated at Domel what information is displayed on the drawings of the company and in what work processes are the drawings used. We checked whether the PTC Creo software allows to display on the 3D model all of the information contained in its drawing. We identified workflows that use engineering drawings and showed how they need to be changed when implementing MBD. We also conducted a survey to investigate the working habits of the company’s employees and their opinion of working with MBD. We found that the PTC Creo program does not represent a technical barrier to the implementation of MBD in the company. Changes are required in workflows and software used in the process of digital stamping of documentation and product quality control.
