The master's thesis includes an analysis of differences in the use of leadership styles between genders in telecommunication organizations. The transformational leadership style encourages employee motivation and inspires them with a vision. Transformational leadership is the process of influencing major changes in the attitude of employees in an organization and building commitment to the organization's mission. According to many researchers, the transformational leadership style manifests in both sexes, but it corresponds more closely to the behavioral orientation of women.
In selected telecommunication organizations, which include providers of telecommunication devices, distributors of telecommunication and electronic devices, and providers of service activities for telecommunication devices, the factors of leadership styles were analyzed according to the gender of the leader. With the help of the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire – MLQ, the difference between all factors of leadership styles and the gender of the leader was determined. We aimed to determine whether the use of the factors of transformational leadership and the factor of transactional leadership contingent reward is more typical for female leaders and the use of other factors of transactional leadership for male leaders, and if the results are comparable with international research. In the preparation of the master's thesis several research methods were used to test the hypotheses and research question. Among the methods used, the literature review and the use of the MLQ stood out the most.
The results show that female leaders in the selected organizations are rated higher on factors of transformational leadership and on the factor of transactional leadership contingent reward. The results highlight the importance of maintaining gender equality in leadership positions in telecommunication organizations and in general. The topic of our master's thesis and the results of our research are important because they show the difference in leadership style between genders in telecommunication organizations in the Republic of Slovenia.
