The thesis deals with the Slovenian photographer Božidar Dolenc and his photography of Slovenian subculture in the period from the late seventies to the mid-eighties of the twentieth century. In this body of work, he documented the night life of Slovenian youth, with an emphasis on punk and rock concerts and the club scene in Ljubljana. The photographs analysed in the thesis represent one of his most important series Ljubljana Subculture Scene and also Concert Pictures series. We first define the subculture and place it in the appropriate historical period in which the movement was created. Our main task is to reflect on the way the photographer shapes the image of the subculture.
