The master’s thesis addresses an
architectural project of a new facility at
the University Medical Centre Ljubljana
(UMCL), intended for gastroenterology,
nuclear medicine, and radiology. The main
goal of the research is to incorporate
all three programmes into the selected
location in accordance with the urban
design by architect Stanko Kristl.
The study includes an analysis of
the current state, examining spatial
requirements, technological and medical
standards. Based on these analyses,
guidelines for designing the facility are
developed, encompassing optimal room
layout, efficient communication between
departments, and appropriate technical
equipment.
The architectural concept focuses
on creating a functional and pleasant
environment that promotes healing,
comfort, and positive experiences for
patients, visitors, and staff. Within the
scope of the master’s thesis, plans and
visualisations of the new facility are
created, serving as an assessment of the
project’s feasibility in the future.
In the master’s thesis, I aim to verify whether
the integration of gastroenterology, nuclear
medicine, and radiology programmes in
a shared location, following the existing
urban design, is possible.
