Fabrka: Idejna zasnova revitalizacije območja nekdanje industrije usnja na Vrhniki.

Idejna zasnova obravnava območje nekdanje usnjarske industrije na Vrhniki. Zaradi razraščanja mesta je nekdaj odmaknjeno območje skozi leta postalo del mestne strukture. Posledično industrijski program danes meji na stanovanjsko tkivo in nekatere javne vsebine. Slednje zaradi vplivov urbanega, degradiranega območja težko zares živijo. Industrijski kompleks se nahaja na pomembni lokaciji, in sicer med razširjenim središčem mesta in njegovim naravnim zaledjem. Namesto povezovalne vloge območje s svojo introvertiranostjo prevzema nezaželeno ločevalno vlogo. Poleg povezovalnega potenciala je za območje mogoče razpoznati številne druge, še neizkoriščene potenciale. Ti so rezultat predhodno opravljenih analiz lokacij in so kasneje postali glavno vodilo za urbanistično ter arhitekturno zasnovo projekta. Magistrska naloga je zaradi trenutno delujoče industrijske dejavnosti na tem območju zastavljena kot dvofazni projekt. V prvi fazi so obravnavani tisti objekti, ki niso nujno potrebni za delovanje industrije ali pa so že več let opuščeni. V teh objektih so predvidene javne vsebine, ki so ključnega pomena za uspešno revitalizacijo. Z vnosom javnega programa in oblikovanjem novih odprtih bivalnih površin se že v prvi fazi spodbudi uporabo prostora. Druga faza temelji na predpostavki premestitve industrijske dejavnosti na vsebini primernejšo lokacijo. Z upoštevanjem te predpostavke se celotno območje napolni z vsebinami, ki primanjkujejo na širšem območju Vrhnike. Tako predlagana rešitev na celosten in trajnosten način predvidi revitalizacijo obravnavanega območja.

• Title: Fabrka: Conceptual design for the revitalization of the former leather industry area in Vrhnika

Abstract

The conceptual design deals with the area of the former leather industry in Vrhnika. Due to urban sprawl, the formerly remote area has become part of the city’s structure over the years. As a consequence, the industrial area is today adjacent to the residential area and to some public facilities. The latter have difficulty prospering due to the negative impact of the urban degradation. The industrial complex is located in an important location, between the extended city centre and its natural hinterland. Instead of undertaking a connecting role, the area’s introverted nature is taking on an unwanted separating role. In addition to its connecting potential, the site has a number of other untapped potentials, which are the result of prior site analyses and have later become the main guiding principle for the urban and architectural design of the project. Due to the industrial activity still active in the area, the master thesis is structured as a two-phase project. The first phase deals with buildings which are not essential for the industrial process or which have been abandoned for several years. Public services are foreseen in these facilities as they are crucial for a successful revitalisation. The incorporation of public facilities and the creation of new open space areas stimulates the use of the space from the very first phase. The second phase is based on the assumption of an eventual relocation of the industry to a more suitable location. This assumption would allow the whole area to be filled with amenities that are lacking in the wider Vrhnika area. The proposed solution for the revitalisation of the area in question is thus planned in a holistic and sustainable way.
