The library space is part of the library that retains its own meaning today. With an increase of remote access and use of electronic resources, libraries can offer their services even without the user entering the library building itself. If we want to understand the use of space, we need to understand its users, who are a key element of any library. Understanding these, leads us to a better direction of the development of the library itself. In our thesis, we considered the library space of the Central Technical Library at the Universtity of Ljubljana from the point of view of its most frequent users, the students. We tried to understand how students use the CTK library space and what students' opinions are about the library space. Using a survey questionnaire and observation method, we collected quantitative and qualitative data in two different periods of the library visits. The first period was the pre-exam period that took place in the first two weeks of May, the second period was the exam period that took place in the first two weeks of June. The findings showed mostly similarities and some discrepancies in the use and opinion of students in both periods. It turned out that students visit the library and use the library space primarily for study purposes. The functionality of the library is of great importance to students. The students highlighted the lack of space as the biggest drawback of the library space. The findings will only strenghten the understanding of the use of the space and add to further additions and changes in the development of the space and maintain the created open and innovative learning community of students.
