Abstract

Title:LASER SENSORS BASED OBJECT PRESENCE DETERMINATION SYSTEM
Abstract:
The thesis explores and describes the process of creating a universal sensor system for detecting the environment and objects, as well as mapping the space in 3D. The main goal of the thesis is the development and testing of the sensor system, encompassing the product's development from idea to completion. This involves the design and creation of electronic circuits, mechanics, and the system's housing, as well as the development of software that runs on a microcontroller and a control computer. The first part of the thesis describes the origin of the idea for creating such a system. The following section focuses on reviewing the field and analysing the market in the Slovenian industry. This is followed by a detailed description of the operation of the entire system and its subunits, delving into the functioning and interaction of the system's key components. Images and diagrams are included in the explanation for better understanding of the operation. In the fourth part of the thesis, the design of the circuits in Altium Designer and the housing in Creo Parametrics are described and demonstrated in detail. This section also covers the ordering, manufacturing, and verification of the sensor system. After the system is manufactured, software development follows in the C programming language for the VL53L5CX sensors, and Python for the control computer. After becoming familiar with the operation of the electronic, mechanical, and software components of the system, the thesis goes into testing the operation and conducting measurements. In thesis conclusion the entire project is reviewed, highlighting issues and proposing possible improvements to the system.
