The first orthographical handbook for the Slovene language "Abecedarij" was written by Slovene Protestant priest Primož Trubar. Similar practically-theoretical works were created in the Czech protestant surroundings. Although the Czech language has used to be written already for quite a long time, the Protestants for the first time wrote down the orthographic rules in details and started using them consistently. Due to them, the use of diacritical orthography for the Czech language was spreaded.In the article we will compare real impact of Protestants on the way how to write Czech and Slovene in the 16th century.
