Although Primož Trubar is one of the key Slovene historical personalities, he has rarely been portrayed in drama. He first appeared as a literary hero in the year 1905 in the epic poem Primož Trubar by Anton Aškerc, but as a protagonist in drama has been used only four times by three different dramatists - Jože Javoršek, Matjaž Kmecl and Drago Jančar. The first wrote the historical drama Life and death of Primož Trubar (1988); the second the monodrama Trubar at the head of Slovene procession; and the third the monodrama Lex moralia Primosha Truberja (1988) and the television play Triptych on Trubar (1986). The second part of a paper is an analysis of these dramatic works.
