Abstract

Title:Handball in the First Grade of Elementary School
Abstract:
Exercise has an important impact on a child's overall development. Depending on the intensity, duration and frequency of the movements, they can be used to improve health, develop specific motor skills or teach specific motor skills. In the preschool years, these ball games are still in a rough stage of execution, with many mistakes, both in movement and in following the rules. The rules of the games are usually shorter, adapted to the level of development of both movement and understanding. In addition to the rules of the game, the teacher explains the rules of movement and throwing, corrects the pupils and gradually introduces them to the game. Handball is one of the ball games we start to introduce more systematically when the child enters first grade of primary school. Handball is a team game where the aim is to get the ball into the opposing team's goal or, if the other team has the ball, to prevent them from scoring. As handball is a very complex game, it is important to introduce it to children in an appropriate way and in a sensiblesequence. In the first grade, although the children are not yet playing real handball, they are subject to adapted rules and this is called mini handball. The aim of this paper is to present the different elements of small handball (e. g. leading, shooting, catching and throwing the ball), to show one of the ways in which these elements can be introduced in elementary games, and thus to reflect on the progression of the introduction of mini handball in the first grade of primary school.
