Addressing the characteristics of poetry, as it appears on the social network Instagram, requires a newer approach that corresponds to the principles of empirical study of literature. In its conception, it takes into account various media forms of messages and deviates from elitist commitment to the printed book only. In the case of poetry, intermediality stands out on Instagram. This article examines how the literary system works in a given digital environment and how it affects the performance of roles in literary activities: production, distribution, and reception with evaluation. The discussion focuses on the presence of Slovenian poetry on Instagram, and so the findings are based on the analysis of a corpus of texts or posts marked with the hashtag #slovenianpoetry.
