Abstract
Sintetične organske spojine imajo zaradi vedno širše uporabe vedno večji vpliv na okolje. Mednje spada tudi BPA, ki se pogosto pojavlja v industrijskih odpadnih vodah, predvsem iz plastične industrije. Čeprav lahko nekatera sintetična organska onesnaževala odstranimo iz okolja s konvencionalnimi čistilnimi napravami, jih veliko še vedno zaznamo v pitni vodi. V okviru magistrske naloge smo zato razvili robusten, pretočen mikrosistem za kontinuirno razgradnjo organskih onesnaževal, kot je BPA. Za razgradnjo smo izkoriščali reaktivne sulfatne radikale, ki nastanejo z reakcijo med Fe(II) ioni in kalijevim persulfatom. Za učinkovito tvorjenje sulfatnih radikalov in s tem učinkovito razgradnjo BPA je ključno nadzorovano sproščanje Fe(II) ionov. V ta namen smo razvili odzivni Fe-alginatni hidrogel, čigar sol-gel transformacijo lahko nadzorujemo z elektrokemijsko stimulacijo. Sistem omogoča nadzorovano sproščanje železovih ionov in situ.

Title:Microfluidic system for continuous degradation of organic pollutants
Abstract:
Negative impact of synthetic organic compounds on the environment keeps growing because of their wide use. One of them is BPA which is commonly found in industrial wastewaters, especially from plastic industry. Even though some synthetic organic pollutants can be removed from the environment with conventional wastewater treatment plants, they are still detected in drinking water. In the scope of our masters thesis we developed a robust, flow-through microsystem for continuous degradation of organic pollutants like BPA. With the reaction between Fe(II) ions and potassium persulfate we can generate reactive sulphate radicals, which we used for continuous BPA degradation. Controlled Fe(II) release is essential for effective sulphate radical generation and with that effective degradation. For this purpose we developed responsive Fe/alginate hydrogel which sol-gel transformation we can control with electrochemical stimulation. System allows controlled in situ iron ion release.
