The different designs of the already realised and forthcoming dictionary entries that are part of Slovene historical lexicography have been influenced by numerous factors such as the subject and aim of the entry, the volume and quality of the gathered material, the number of collaborating lexicographers, the linguistic achievements of the time, and so on. The paper deals extensively with update procedures from different types of historical dictionaries which present to the modern user the lexis of a given historical era.
