This paper deals with different types of conference and non conference interpreting, emphasizes the importance of these activities in our contemporary world, describes the work and the role of the interpreters and presents the differencies and similarities between interpreting and translating. The paper also stresses some difficulties the Spanish -Slovene interpreters have to cope with as they do not have such a large range of tools (bilingual diccionaries, specialized glossaries, bilingual internet pages) as other interpreters with language combinations such as English-Slovene, German-Slovene, Italian-Slovene.
