The thesis deals with the topic of traffic accidents and the collection and analysis of data relating to them. In Slovenia, traffic accidents are investigated by police officers or investigating judges. We have researched that both the Police and the Traffic Safety Agency are engaged in investigating traffic accidents, which includes collecting and analyzing data on them. Some information on road accidents is made public; These are statistical files and a map of traffic accidents. Other organisations, such as the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency, the Motorway Company of the Republic of Slovenia and Cestel, store and analyse data on traffic, traffic participants, vehicles and road infrastructure. This information can be obtained through the websites of organisations, legislation or public procurement. We have also presented various programmes for simulating traffic accidents, such as PC-Crash and Analyzer Pro, where we found that they need scene, vehicle and collision data to simulate traffic accidents. We have come to the conclusion that the relevant data necessary for simulating accidents are available in the police report, and some can also be obtained from the Road Data Bank, the Kažipot application, statistical files of traffic accidents, the map of traffic accidents, data on registration and providers of roadworthiness tests of vehicles, weighing data of trucks, vehicle detection data, wind data and Road Weather information system.
