Abstract

Title:Fitness applications usability analysis and proposal of optimized application user interface for better user experience
Abstract:
As part of our diploma thesis, we took on the challenge of developing a prototype application for tracking fitness progress. Our main goal was to create an optimized interface that would combine the best features from five analysed fitness applications into one user-friendly app. The essence of our work was to create a UX that not only encourages users to use the app more frequently but also allows for quick navigation, recording, and understanding of their fitness achievements. In the theoretical part, we focused on key UX characteristics such as acceptability, accessibility, and usability. We also emphasized the importance of tracking progress and explored why digitalizing fitness records is essential and convenient for users. One of the crucial topics in our theoretical work was the significance of gathering feedback from our target audience. We understood that obtaining critical feedback from users is vital for app development, maintenance, and improving the UX. In the experimental part, we carefully planned the project's execution, analysed the problems existing in fitness tracking applications, and conducted a survey using Google Forms to gather opinions and feedback from users of these mobile applications. With the obtained information, we proceeded to design the application prototype in Figma and iteratively improved it based on feedback from surveys and consultations. The result of our research and creation of an improved fitness tracking application brought us the important realization that UX is a dynamic field, constantly evolving due to user demands and digital advancements. Despite all efforts, no application will ever be entirely perfect as user needs and expectations are continuously changing. Through this process, we gained valuable knowledge and experiences that will guide us in developing future applications to achieve an even better UX.
