The purpose of the thesis was to design a women's collection titled "LimitAction" with a focus on snowflake inspiration and zero-waste cutting. We aimed to find a new approach to modeling and design within sustainable fashion.
Through our collection, we wanted to show the possibility of designing with snowflakes as a starting point. At first glance, all snowflakes may appear the same, but their uniqueness becomes apparent upon closer examination and zooming in.
The theoretical part presents predictions and solutions for more ethical fashion, designing with minimal environmental impact. This is followed by an exploration of snowflakes and their complex shapes, which offer numerous design possibilities. We also incorporated the concept of zero-waste cutting into the work, discussing its use and providing examples from contemporary fashion.
The practical part presents the development of the design and execution of the LimitAction collection, which consists of nine silhouettes, three of which were realized. We introduce the purpose, inspiration, and concept development, followed by a description and visual representation of the silhouette development through collages. We describe the selection of colors and materials, present technical sketches of the three chosen silhouettes, and showcase fashion sketches of the entire collection.
In addition to the thesis, we included an conceptual design for a collection of bags created from the remnants of the LimitAction collection.
