With increasing concern for sustainable mobility, reducing the number of cars in cities, creating people-centric urban areas, and thereby improving the quality of life in cities, the BA thesis analyzes the state of bicycle traffic in the Municipality of Ljubljana. The BA thesis includes the analysis of strategic documents for sustainable mobility, a review of the expansion of infrastructure over the past 30 years and its updates, investment dynamics, identification of certain black spots for cyclists, and an assessment of the success of their redevelopment. The share of cyclists in Ljubljana is high compared to other European capitals, but the cycling infrastructure does not meet the needs of daily mobility, and infrastructure construction is carried out on an ad hoc basis, without vision and strategy. The BA thesis presents the views of the Municipality of Ljubljana on the future and, based on the findings, offers suggestions for improving the infrastructure, which is a prerequisite for increasing the share of cyclists and, consequently, their safety.
