Abstract

Title:The Question About Losing (One's) Self
Abstract:
This thesis explores the complex relationship between the self and mystical experience and deals with the convergence of phenomenology and mysticism. The thesis examines the ways in which the mystical concept of the ''death of the self'' enriches the credibility and depth of understanding of the phenomenological self, while at the same time enhancing authenticity and deepening the understanding of the self from a phenomenological perspective. The thesis draws on the studies of Husserl, Zahavi and Jäger, and reveals the interplay between consciousness, self-consciousness and the dissolution of the self. The aim of the thesis is to shed light on how these seemingly divergent perspectives harmoniously intertwine to offer a deeper insight into the nature of one's own identity.

Keywords:Self, self-awareness, consciousness, mystical experience, phenomenology.
