Abstract
V magistrskem delu »Antična marikultura na vzhodnem Jadranu« je obravnavana arheološka, epigrafska in literarna evidenca izkoriščanja morskih virov v rimskem svetu in njihova vloga v antičnem gospodarstvu. Morski viri, kot so ribolov, soljenje rib, predelava soli in ribjih izdelkov, ribogojstvo, proizvodnja škrlatne barve in drugi »morski sadeži«, so predstavljali pomembno dejavnost rimskega gospodarstva.

Title:Ancient mariculture in the Eastern Adriatic
Abstract:
Abstract The master's thesis »Ancient Mariculture in the Eastern Adriatic« discusses the archaeological, epigraphic and literary records of the exploitation of marine resources in the Roman world and their role in the ancient economy. Marine resources such as fishing, fish salting, production of salt and fish products, fish farming, production of purple dye and other »seafood« represent an important activity of the Roman economy. The thesis includes a review of fishing tools and techniques that were in use during the ancient period, a review of written sources on ancient mariculture, iconography, and production facilities such as salt pans, fish farms, salting and fish processing sites and purple dye production sites. The concluding chapter is based on an assessment of the role and importance of marine resources within the local and also regional economy of the Eastern Adriatic, in comparison with other regions of the ancient Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Atlantic coast.
