Note: | TITLE: Lexemes for old crockery and kitchen utensils in the Briško dialect of the Slovene language / ABSTRACT: The thesis explores the terminology for old crockery and kitchen utensils in the Littoral Briško dialect in four selected places in the Brda region: Golo Brdo, Barbana, Plešivo in Vedrijan. The first part presents the Briško dialect, the methodology of material collection and the selected places. The second part follows with a comparative presentation of the collected material and an analysis of the loan words. The collection of material was based on the questionnaire for Old Crockery and Kitchen Utensils, which includes 68 questions and was designed by Vera Smole. Responses, and sometimes comments, recorded in the field were first transcribed phonetically into the questionnaire at the selected sites and then inserted into a parallel table that categorizes the sites from west to east so that the different terminology at each site is graphically highlighted (in bold). A comparative analysis of the collected material between the selected sites follows. Romanisms and less frequently Germanisms are further processed in the form of dictionary entries. For each lexeme (presented in the phonetically abstracted form), the place of its occurrence and its dialectal phonetic form with the basic dictionary forms, its meaning in the selected location, its source language with the meaning in it, the dictionary source and its occurrence or absence in Slovenian dictionaries are given. / KEYWORDS: Slovene, Littoral dialect group, Briško dialect, kitchen crockery, kitchen utensils, phonetic transcription, romanisms, loanwords, comparative analysis, Goriška Brda, Golo Brdo, Barbana, Plešivo, Vedrijan |
