In the last few years, we have witnessed an increase in the immigration of persons of Albanian nationality to the Municipality of Celje, which always brings with it new challenges and issues which should be explored. In my master's thesis I studied the nature and formation of the attitude of the majority population of the city of Celje towards immigrants of Albanian nationality. After reviewing the theoretical assumptions and previous research, I designed a two-stage research, within which I used in-depth interview methods and a closed-ended questionnaire to investigate what the relationship is and how it is formed. The analysis of data obtained using the closed-ended questionnaire method was based on three variables: gender, level of education and the amount of average monthly net income in the household of a member of the majority population of the city of Celje. The research showed that the majority of the population of Celje has on average a more negative than positive attitude towards immigrants of Albanian nationality, regardless of the selected variables, however, slight coincidences with the presented theoretical starting points can be observed, with female individuals with higher education and higher monthly net household income also shows a less extremely negative attitude towards immigrants compared to less educated male individuals, who receive a lower monthly net household income. In addition to selected variables, I observed the formation of the relationship through a brief analysis of the media representation of immigrants and the impact of immigration policy in the light of Slovenian nationalism and the increasingly present albanophobia.
