The need to connect Europe has triggered the demand to establish sustainable mobility, at the same time there are questions about how to adapt the existing infrastructure to the required capacities. Near railway tracks in cities and railway infrastructure in general, the question of arranging and adapting the surroundings arises. For the most part, these spaces are nowadays classified as brownfields and at a given moment they can represent a problem for cities, but they can also serve as an inspiring location for further urban development. With the growth of the number of inhabitants in cities, there is a need to build new affordable housing and urban infrastructure. As with any problem, space planners have several possible solutions, and it is essential to choose the one that is most suitable for the surrounding area and the user's needs. The present work pursues the goal of transforming the degraded area next to the railway line in the southeastern part of Celje between the densely built old city centre, the industrial zone, and the forested hill. Three options for arranging the area on a strategic level are shown. Each arrangement option has its advantages and disadvantages, which are discussed in the task, and then the most suitable solution is chosen among the three.
