Abstract

Title:Contact karst between Dolenje pri Jelšanah and Šapjane
Abstract:
The research area is located on the ponor contact karst at the contact of the carbonate bedrock of the Jelšansko podolje and the flysch that make up the Brkini Hills and Jelšane Hills. Allogenic waters, which have a hydrological hinterland on non-carbonate hills, formed alluvial fans on contact karst. Three streams flow along the karst surface. The Drščevnik stream sinks in the ponor cave Dolenjska jama, while the other two converge to form the Mržljak stream, which sinks into the riverbed southeast of Šapjane in the Tomenice doline. Collaps dolines, caves and dolines are further geomorphological features that are typical of contact karst that has developed in the research area. The purpose of the diploma thesis was to explore the northern part of the Jelšansko podolje karst basin, to carry out a detailed geomorphological analysis of the surface features characteristic of ponor contact karst and to study the cave systems, and lastly, to show the findings on geomorphological maps.
