Abstract
Zgornjekvartarni karbonati in njihovi pogoji nastanka so zanimivi za aktualne podnebne študije, saj predstavljajo skoraj neizčrpen vir podatkov o paleookolju in paleoklimi. V delu podrobno opisujemo Tarague apnenec. Ta karbonat so prvič opisali v devetdesetih letih, vendar na drugi lokaciji.

Title:Depositional environment and diagenesis of Late Pleistocene coastal carbonates of Guam island, Micronesia
Abstract:
Upper Quaternary carbonates and the conditions of their formation are attractive for current climate studies, as they represent an almost inexhaustible source of data on paleoenvironment and paleoclimate. In this work we describe in detail the Tarague limestone. The carbonate was first described in the 1990s, but in a different location. Thinsections of the Tarague limestone were examined under an optical microscope and the results were compared with schemes for determining recent diagenetic environments. We identified many multigenerational cements of marine or freshwater phreatic and vadose diagenetic environments, which indicate dynamic changes in seawater during the last interglacial period.
