If three decades ago, nostalgia and idealisation of one's native land were still among the major themes of Slovene émigré literature, they are now usually superseded by others, such as the tendency towards the historical, cultural and experiential synergy of the two homelands. With this in mind, a comparison is made between recent works by the Austrian-Slovene author Lev Detela and contemporary émigré literature by other authors.
