In the late 20th century, when postmodernism was disappearing from the contemporary Slovene novel, the question arose as to whether this fading trend would be replaced by another, or whether it would be more appropriate to use the general term literary eclecticism. Further research suggested that the most appropriate label is transrealism, a trend connected with previous realist currents and modes, with the most frequent narrative model - the modified traditional novel with realist traits - and with a new position of the narrative subject, which can be described as a new emotionality.
