Abstract
Izobraževanje je lahko formalno ali neformalno. Za nadaljnje izobraževanje se ljudje odločijo, ker želijo pridobiti znanja, ki jim bodo v pomoč pri njihovem delu, zaradi osebnega zadovoljstva, želje do višje stopnje izobrazbe ter drugih motivov. Veliko pomoč pri vseživljenjskem izobraževanju v kmetijstvu predstavlja sistem AKIS, ki se opredeljuje kot sistem znanja in inovacij na področju kmetijstva. AKIS ponuja različne načine izobraževanja, kot je e-učenje, webinarji, prikaz dobrih praks, prenos informacij preko družbenih omrežij in sodelovanje med partnerji v kmetijstvu (trikotnik znanja). Te metode omogočajo lažje in bolj praktično učenje, saj so te metode prilagojene na potrebe današnjega časa. V Sloveniji izobraževanje in svetovanje v kmetijstvu omogočajo institucije, ki jih lahko razdelimo v šest skupin: in sicer na javne institucije, to so javni sektor, raziskovalno-izobraževalne ustanove in skupina javnih ustanov. Poleg tega imamo še zasebne institucije in organizacije kmetov, zasebne kmetijske svetovalce in nevladne organizacije. Nosilci kmetijskih gospodarstev v Sloveniji so predvsem starejši lastniki kmetij z nižjo stopnjo izobrazbe. V zadnjem desetletju se je struktura kmetij v Sloveniji močno spremenila. Po zadnjih podatkih je 50 % nosilcev KMG, ki imajo osnovno in najmanj srednjo kmetijsko izobrazbo, kar je nad povprečjem EU-28, ki znaša 32 %. Vendar je še vedno visok procent KMG s samo pridobljenimi praktičnimi znanji brez formalne kmetijske izobrazbe.

Title:The importance of education and lifelong learning in sustainable rural development
Abstract:
Education can be formal or informal. People choose to continue their education because they want to acquire skills that will help them in their work, for personal satisfaction, to achieve a higher level of education, and for other motives. AKIS, defined as the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System, is an important aid to lifelong learning in agriculture. AKIS offers different learning methods such as e-learning, webinars, demonstration of best practises, information transfer through social networks, and collaboration between partners in agriculture (knowledge triangle). These methods make learning easier and more practical as they are adapted to today’s needs. In Slovenia, agricultural education and extension are provided by institutions that can be divided into six groups: public institutions, i.e. the public sector, research and educational institutions, and a group of public institutions. In addition, there are private institutions and farmers’ organisations, private agricultural extension agents, and NGOs. Farmers in Slovenia are mainly older farmers with lower levels of education. The structure of farms in Slovenia has changed drastically in the last decade. According to the latest data, 50% of farm owners have primary or at least secondary agricultural education, which is higher than the EU-28 average, which is 32%. However, there is still a high percentage of farm owners who have only acquired practical skills and have no formal agricultural education.
