MEDVERSKI DIALOG Revitalizacija nekdanje čaršijske mošeje v Prilepu v kulturni center

Republika Severna Makedonija si močno prizadeva k obnovitvi stare kulturno-etnološke identitete skozi proces, katerega primarna vloga je vzpodbujanje medverskega dialoga med krščanskim in muslimanskim prebivalstvom. V nalogi je prepoznan potencial za vzpostavitev medverskega dialoga preko kulturne dediščine. Zaradi že postavljenih temeljev muslimanske skupnosti s strani Osmanskega cesarstva je ključni koncept obnova zapuščenih muslimanskih objektov. S tem bi se revitalizirale javne površine, ki jih objekti sami zasedajo, in posledično bi se obnovila medverska toleranca, ki je državo odlikovala v preteklosti. Magistrsko delo se osredotoča na revitalizacijo nekdanje mošeje v Prilepu. Z obnovo same mošeje se ohranja integriteto muslimanske skupnosti, medtem ko dodane nove strukture in razvoj novega kulturno-sakralnega prilagodljivega programa okoli mošeje privabi tudi druge skupnosti. Naloga temelji na tezi, da se lahko s poudarkom na nekdanjem sožitju med krščanskim in muslimanskim prebivalstvom na teritoriju današnje države vpliva na izboljšanje odnosov med ljudmi prihodnjih generacij. Ukvarja se s ponovno oživitvijo verske funkcije nekdanje mošeje ter z združevanjem verskega in kulturnega programa z namenom ponovne vključitve mošeje v javni prostor in splošno javno rabo. S tem želi prispevati k medetnični in medverski vzgoji ter doseči ponovno pogostejše mešanje prebivalstva različnih religij, kar bi se odražalo na povečanju strpnosti in spoštovanja med skupnostmi. Programsko-prostorska intervencija odgovarja tudi na potencial, ki ga predstavlja sama lokacija znotraj mesta. S posegom v ruševino naloga izkoristi potencial lokacije in skozi implementacijo javnega programa poudarja pomen javnega prostora. Tovrstna revitalizacija ni le prenova nekdanje čaršijske mošeje, temveč tudi sociološka in urbanistična revitalizacija.

• Title: INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE Revitalization of the former bazaar mosque in Prilep into a cultural center

Abstract

The Republic of North Macedonia is strongly committed to restoring its old cultural and ethnological identity through a process whose primary role is to promote interfaith dialogue between the Christian and Muslim populations. This research recognizes the potential for establishing interreligious dialogue through the cultural heritage. Due to the foundations already laid by the Ottoman Empire for the Muslim community, the key concept is the restoration of abandoned Muslim buildings. This would revitalize the public spaces occupied by these buildings, ultimately restoring the interfaith tolerance that characterized the country in the past. Specifically, the master’s thesis focuses on the revitalization of a former mosque in Prilep. It is based on the idea that emphasizing the historical coexistence between the Christian and Muslim populations within the territory of the present-day state, can influence the improvement of relations between people in future generations. It deals with the revival of the religious function of the former mosque and the integration of religious and cultural programs with the aim of reintegrating the mosque into public space and general public use. This aims to contribute to interethnic and interreligious education and achieve more frequent mixing, which would reflect an increase in tolerance and respect among communities. The intervention also harnesses the potential of its specific location by implementing a public program that highlights the importance of public space. By engaging with the ruins, it accomplishes more than just the restoration of the former mosque; it also initiates a sociological and urban revitalization.
