In the thesis we have checked the preservation of the stabilisations of trigonometric points of the IVth order, with an emphasis on the old Italian stabilisations in a selected area around Postojna. In the statistical analysis we additionally used the trigonometric points of II and III order located in the area. In total, 99 sites were examined in the field or by checking topographies, 77 of which are still preserved, representing 78% of the stabilisations examined. The number of trigonometric points of IV order in the selected area is 75, III order 21 and II order 3. The majority of the preserved points are located in forested and hilly areas. The lowest number of preserved points is in built-up and agricultural areas. Most of the preserved points are stabilised by granite stones (55%). There are 17 pillars dating from the Kingdom of Italy period (1920–1947), representing 22% of the preserved points. Nine stones (12%) date from the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Nine points are represented with the church bell towers. In the northwestern part of the area under consideration, the border between the Logatec and Vipava municipalities during the Austro-Hungarian Empire was situated, and therefore still today many Austrian type stabilisations can be found there on still valid present-day boundaries of the cadastral municipalities.
