Abstract
Namen te diplomske naloge je načrtovanje misije o spremljanju in zaznavanju plastičnih odpadkov v oceanih z uporabo satelita Cubesat. Opisana je idejna zasnova možne izvedbe misije, v kateri je predstavljen konceptualni projekt satelita, pregled njegovih komponent in njihovo podrobno načrtovanje, s poudarkom na tehniki zaznavanja odpadne plastike in mikroplastike s senzorji, kot je kamera. Nadalje je določena ustrezna orbita z definiranjem Keplerjevih elementov, simulacijo gibanja satelita in potekom misije v vesolju. Preko simulacijskih orodij je podana analiza prenosa podatkov in s tem določena mreža potrebnih komunikacijskih postaj na Zemlji. Predlagani parametri misije so zbrani v pregledni tabeli in vključujejo tehnike zaznavanja, optične parametre, definicijo orbite in analizo prenosa podatkov. Delo predstavlja izhodišče bodočih raziskav pri ohranjanju neokrnjene narave našega planeta, kar je ključni izziv prihodnosti.

Title:Conceptual design, modeling and use of Cubesat in detecting and monitoring ocean plastic pollution
Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to plan a mission for remote sensing and detecting plastic waste in the oceans using a Cubesat satellite. The thesis describes the conceptual design of a possible mission, including the conceptual satellite project, an overview of its components, and a detailed design, with a focus on the technology for detecting plastic waste and microplastics using sensors such as cameras. Furthermore, an appropriate orbit is determined by defining Kepler's elements, simulating the satellite's movement, and outlining the mission's progress in space. Data transmission analysis is carried out using simulation tools, which leads to the definition of a network of required ground communication stations. The proposed mission parameters are summarized in a comprehensive table, encompassing detection techniques, optical parameters, orbit definition, and data transmission analysis. This work serves as a starting point for future research aimed at preserving the pristine nature of our planet, a pivotal challenge for the future.
