This thesis focuses on the impact of the circular economy on the design of exterior walls in wooden construction. By reviewing current literature and the market of wooden exterior walls in Slovenia, I established a system for evaluating the parameters of various wooden structural components of facade assemblies from the perspective of circular construction. The aim was to explore opportunities for improving sustainability and circularity. Through the literature review, I identified key aspects of environmental impact in the construction of exterior walls. Using the assessment system for parameters, based on Finch [1], I evaluated existing structural components of exterior walls and identified challenges and opportunities for improvement. Based on the findings obtained, I developed proposals for adapting structural components with the goal of increasing the circularity. Finally, I conducted an assessment of the adapted structural components and analyzed their effectiveness in terms of sustainability and circularity in the construction sector. I found that the problem relates to bonding agents designed in a way that they cannot be disassembled, thereby contaminating materials, and that a simple replacement of connections can significantly increase the value of materials after initial use. The research could serve as the foundation for further actions and guidelines for more sustainable and circular construction of exterior walls in wooden construction.
