Abstract

Title:Ampelographic and technological characteristics and quality of grape and wine of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) 'Kraljevina' variety
Abstract:
The variety 'Kraljevina', also known as Königstraube, is a white variety of noble grapevine (Vitis vinifera L), widely spread in Slovenia, where it grows on 159 ha in the wine-growing region of Posavje, and in Croatia, where it grows on 272 ha in the northwest of the country. It grows vigorously, buds mid-late and reaches technological maturity mid-late, i.e. in the ripening period III. The variety is quite productive, the yield per vine is 3.5 kg. At technological maturity, grapes of 'Kraljevina' variety in Posavje wine-growing region contain on average 17.5 °Brix of total sugars, 7.6 g/l of total acids, and the weight of 100 berries is 210.4 g. The Kraljevina wine contains on average 12.14 % alcohol by volume, 6.25 g/l of total acids and has a pH of 3.42. Kraljevina wine is most often blended in blends, for example in Cviček PTP and Belokranjec PTP wine. In 2018-2022, an average of 211,650 kg of 'Kraljevina' grapes were produced per year in Posavje, and an in 2017-2021 an average of 1,570 liters of Kraljevina wine were produced. In 2022, two new Slovenian clones of the 'Kraljevina' variety were added to the list of varieties, namely SI -27 and SI -29. The newly obtained clones are semi vigorous in growth, produce a high and stable yield per vine of 3.5 kg, and offer higher quality compared to the standard. They are also less susceptible to gray mold (Botryotinia fuckeliana (De Bary) Whetzel). Increased production of Kraljevina varietal wine is expected in the future, and due to the general reduction of vineyards in Posavje, the area planted with the 'Kraljevina' variety is expected to decrease.
