Abstract
Materiali z visoko entropijo so nova vrsta materialov, ki so v zadnjem času postali zelo popularni in so se začeli aktivno raziskovati. Pri stabilizaciji faze ima velik doprinos entropija, ki je merilo razpršenosti energije in nereda. To diplomsko delo vsebuje klasifikacijo materialov z visoko entropijo in pregled nekaterih sinteznih metod omenjenih materialov. Delo se osredotoča predvsem na uporabo materialov z visoko entropijo kot katalizatorjev v različnih aplikacijah. Katalizatorji so danes nepogrešljivi v mnogih industrijskih procesih, saj znižujejo potrebno energijo, izpuste ter stroške obratovanja in povečujejo izkoristek procesov. Njihova težava je visoka cena, saj večinoma vsebujejo redke kovine. Glavni cilj odkritja novih katalizatorjev na osnovi materialov z visoko entropijo je znižanje cene z legiranjem s cenejšimi kovinami ali odkrivanje novih alternativ, ter izboljšava katalitske aktivnosti.

Title:
Catalysts based on high-entropy materials
Abstract:
High-entropy materials are a new type of material which recently gained in popularity and have started being actively researched. A major role in phase stabilisation is played by entropy which is a metric for the dispersion of energy and disorder. This work contains a classification of high-entropy materials and an overview of some synthesis methods of said materials. The work mainly focuses on the use of high-entropy materials as catalysts in different applications. Catalysts are nowadays vital in many industrial processes since they lower the required energy, emissions and costs of operation whilst increasing yield. Their problem is high price since they are mainly very rare metals. The main goal of discovering novel catalysts based on high-entropy materials is lowering the price either through alloying with cheaper metals or discovering entirely new alternatives while potentially improving catalytic activity.
